What is osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a manual method of treatment whose goal is to find and eliminate the cause of functional limitations in order to activate the body's self-healing powers. The whole body with all its structures is seen and treated as a unit. In order to optimize the success of the therapy, cooperation with the veterinarian, the farrier, the dentist and the saddler is particularly important.
Fields of application:
- Pain symptoms - tact errors / lameness after veterinary clarification - with one-sided head or tail posture - in case of muscle tension - in case of sudden changes in behavior - in case of unexplained decrease in performance - after accidents - preventively in the competition phase - suddenly occurring rideability problems
Procedure of an osteopathic first treatment:
Bring plenty of time and rest (duration approx. 1.5 - 2.5 hours) During the initial appointment, a complete diagnosis of your horse will be made as well as a check of teeth, hooves and equipment (saddle check, etc.). This is followed by treatment of the findings using osteotherapeutic and physiotherapeutic techniques.
Afterwards you will receive detailed instructions with exercises and measures to improve the success of the therapy.
After the treatment, the horse should not be worked for at least 48 hours to give the body the opportunity to reorganize itself. Your horse should be allowed to move freely and have as much exercise as possible. Especially in the case of long-standing complaints, further treatment is recommended in order to solve all problems in the long term.
